Wattpad WEBTOON Studios and MCU Screenwriter Christopher Yost to Adapt HAWK as an Animated Series
“Thor: Ragnarok” and “The Mandalorian” Writer to Pen Series Based on Mike Booth’s Wattpad Sci-Fi Webnovel
LOS ANGELES AND TORONTO - October 18, 2023 - Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, the fan-driven global entertainment and publishing arm for WEBTOON and Wattpad, today announced “HAWK,” a new animated series in development with Christopher Yost, screenwriter for “Thor: Ragnarok'' and “The Mandalorian,” and other incredible sci-fi and comic-based projects. The series is based on Mike Booth’s popular intergalactic sci-fi webnovel of the same name, with over one million reads on Wattpad.
Yost will write the series, with Executive Producers Aron Levitz, David Madden, Taylor Grant, and Sydney Bright from Wattpad WEBTOON Studios.
“HAWK” follows the story of space bounty hunter Kas Balera. When a disaster of epic proportions rocks the entire solar system, Kas must use her quick thinking and sharp wit if she's going to stay alive. In order to save the galaxy from destruction, she’ll need a little help from a stolen federal robot, a child genius, and her trusty ship, the Calista.
Yost has an extensive comic and genre entertainment career across print, TV, and film. He has penned screenplays and teleplays for the world’s biggest studios and franchises including Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm. Some of his recent script credits include the blockbuster hit films “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Thor: The Dark World” as well as teleplays for the Emmy-winning series “The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars: Rebels,” “Cowboy Bebop,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and much more. In addition, Yost has written on high-profile comic runs for Marvel, including “Avengers,” “Spider-Man,” “X-Men,” X-23,” and DC on titles like “Batman,” and “Red Robin.” He is also the author of the recently-announced “Unnatural Order,” which is currently Vault Comics’ best-selling comic of all time.
