Wattpad Welcomes Entertainment Executive Philip Schuman as Advisory Board Member

We’re delighted to announce that Philip Schuman is our newest advisory board member. With decades of industry experience, Philip will help us develop new entertainment ventures and partnerships.

Philip is a recognized expert in the communications, media, entertainment, and technology space. He has extensive knowledge and insights into the inner workings of Hollywood deals and business proposals and has worked with a variety of studios and networks.  

“Wattpad made significant strides in the entertainment space last year with the launch of Wattpad Studios and multiple partnerships with media and entertainment companies. We’re excited to kick off 2017 by expanding our team of advisors to include Philip Schuman,” said Aron Levitz, Head of Wattpad Studios. “Schuman’s strong industry relationships and expertise will further elevate Wattpad as the source for original stories that power the global entertainment industry.”

With decades of experience under his belt, Schuman currently owns and operates several entertainment ventures and serves as a Media & Entertainment consultant. Schuman has also held positions at Universal Studios as Co-President of Television Distribution. Schuman brings a long history of knowledge and insights into the inner workings of Hollywood deals and business proposals. “It is my great pleasure to work to bring Wattpad to the next stage of its development,” Schuman said.

Wattpad has given storytellers a creative outlet, and it has entertained audiences around the world with original stories. Last year we launched a new division Wattpad Studios, to help the billion-dollar entertainment industry discover amazing new storytellers and stories. Wattpad Studios takes the guesswork out the traditional development process by leveraging Wattpad community and data insights to ensure the success of projects as they are brought to life for film, tv, digital, and print platforms.  We’ve already announced several strategic partnerships with Universal Cable Productions (NBCUniversal), Turner, United Talent Agency, Paramount Pictures, TV5 Networks, among others.

Ten years ago Wattpad launched as a reading and writing app. Today’s appointment of Philip Schuman as advisory board members cements our foray into the entertainment world where we will entertain and connect the world through stories.
