Wattpad Announces the Launch of the 2017 Watty Awards Season

Last year people from all over the world shared more than 145,000 entries as part of The Wattys, Wattpad’s annual global celebration of storytelling and writing contest. Today, we kick off the 2017 Watty Awards season! We’re excited to showcase the best and brightest from the Wattpad community. And this year is no different - the 2017 Watty Awards will recognize stories of all kinds.

We are offering six fun awards that celebrate storytellers of all kinds, from newcomers to masters of their craft:

1. The Originals Award is for the trailblazers who changed the game, defied genres and categories, broke the rules, and created one-of-a-kind stories on Wattpad.
2. The Riveting Reads Award celebrates the pulse-quickening, edge-of-your-seat, up-all-night, page-flipping stories that had readers hooked, start to finish.
3. The Breakthroughs Award is for the up-and-comers in storytelling who delighted readers and caused a stir on Wattpad.
4. The Newcomers Award celebrates brand new storytellers who published their first story to Wattpad on or after September 1, 2016.
5. The Storysmiths Award recognizes the stories that wowed us with their commitment to the craft.
6. The Tap Award honors the boldest and best chat stories that had readers glued to their phones til the very… last… message.

This year, the Wattys are easier to enter than ever before. Writers can simply add the tag #wattys2017 to a story to be considered for an award.
