Vidio, Wattpad, and Screenplay Films Announce Three New Streaming Adaptations from Hit Wattpad Stories

JAKARTA and TORONTO – December 14, 2020 - Vidio, Indonesia’s leading streaming service with 60 million users, Screenplay Films, and Wattpad, the global multi-platform entertainment company for original stories, today announced three exciting Original Series projects coming to Vidio subscribers everywhere. The slate of Bahasa Indonesia projects is the first from a first-look deal between Wattpad and Screenplay Films to develop hit Indonesian Wattpad stories for Vidio -- the new home of Wattpad adaptations in Indonesia.
After accumulating 16.4 million reads on Wattpad, @TiaraWales’ Turn On will stream on Vidio in Q1 2021. The series will star Giorgino Abraham and Clara Bernadeth. Screen adaptation is written by Keke Mayang and Ve Handojo.
About Turn On: An affluent tech executive (Giorgino Abraham) forms an unlikely bond with his employee (Clara Barnadeth)– a girl next door struggling to make ends meet. A relationship that starts off as transactional with no strings attached, eventually turns into so much more when they both discover their true feelings enabling them to be free from traumas of the past.
Vidio has also greenlit @matcharay_’s massively popular Wattpad story Live with my Ketos (16.8 million reads) for production. Principal photography for the 8 episode series will commence in early 2021 and be released immediately after.
About Live with my Ketos: Rebellious Gabriella finally meets with her match when she crosses path with Alvaro. After a rocky first encounter Gabriella hates Alvaro with a passion, but her feelings grow when they find themselves stuck together. After a series of stops and starts, the pair end up in an arranged engagement, deepening their connection while increasing the chance for heartbreak and disappointment. Things seem to be ok, until Gabriella discovers Alvaro still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend Vava.
@khojina’s Paradise Garden (nearly 800k reads) has also been greenlit, with plans for a 2021 release as well. Paradise Garden follows Vya and Andra who are both connected with a mission to find their siblings that recently disappear. Determined to investigate on their own, the mystery starts to build and unravel when they move into Paradise Garden--an elite housing complex in Jakarta--and start experiencing strange occurrences. Screen adaptation is written by Tommy Dewo, Agasyah Karim, and Khalid Kashogi.
Wicky V. Olindo will serve as Producer on all three series titles. Executive Producers will be Tina Arwin for Vidio and Anthony Buncio for Screenplay Films, along with Wattpad’s Aron Levitz and Eric Lehrman.
The new slate of projects follow a string of on-screen hits and growing list of adaptations from Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, where more than 70 projects are in development all over the world. This year, Wattpad has announced original series project with international partners, including, Perfect Addiction with Constantin Film and JB Pictures; She’s with Me and The Last She with Sony Pictures Television; Float with Collective Pictures, which will star and be produced by Robbie Amell; and The Bro Code and How to Lose Weight and Survive the Apocalypse with Screen Queensland. Wattpad also launched a new development fund, fast-tracking Wattpad hits The Hound and What Happened That Night. In 2020, Wattpad’s hit film After We Collided was a fan favourite and indie box-office hit, opening #1 or #2 across Europe in September 2020. The sequel follows After, the 2019 indie hit that won a People’s Choice Award and three Teen Choice Awards.
